2017 Amboy Festivals consisted of two separate events -

Bridge Restoration Celebration - June 24

Amboy Community Parade - September 9

In 2017 the Amboy Community Club will put on events whose purpose is to celebrate and build community spirit in our local community of Amboy, Minnesota.

On June 24th, around 150 people attended a celebration of the renovation of the historic Dodd Ford Bridge at the bridge site on CR 147, southwest of Amboy. Highlights of the celebration were: a visit from Kristin Johnson and her family, decendants of bridge builder Lawrence Henry Johnson, who came all the way from California to take part in the festivities, rides to the bridge site in classic automobiles, a dinner catered by the Vernon Center Market and a special song, “The Dodd Ford Bridge”, composed for the occasion and sung by Johny Hoy of Minneapolis.

hobo band

This year the Amboy Parade Planning Committee consists of Marilyn Ruzich, Kent Boyd and Nancy Runge. They continued the fine tradition of this event which has taken place in some form since the 1930s. For any questions regarding participation in the parade, call Marilyn at 507-674-3964.

chamber music

In addition to the parade, there was a chamber music concert on Friday, September 8 at the First Presbyterian Church in Amboy and a Community Worship service on Sunday, September 10. Please see the Schedule of Activities for details.
